The gathering foot is perfect for gathering a single layer of fabric or gathering and sewing two layers together. Ideal for medium or light weight fabrics.

• Set the sewing machine for overcasting to the desired stitch.
• Clip the presser foot.
• Insert the bottom layer of fabric (to be gathered) between the needle plate and the presser foot by pushing it up to the wire cutter, right side up.
• Insert the top layer of the fabric into the opening of the presser foot, with the right side of the bottom layer down.
• Lower the presser foot and sew. Keep the fabric in line with the guide, allowing the bottom layer to advance freely for gathering.

Advice: To increase the fullness of the curl:

• Increases needle thread tension
• Set the differential transport to a higher number
• Adjust the stitch length to a higher number

In addition, you can gather a single layer of fabric by placing it under the presser foot and adjusting the stitch length, differential feed, and needle thread tension as desired.
