The cording foot is perfect for inserting made-made cords into seams and edges, giving your project a tailored finish. The cording foot also allows you to cover the cord with fabric and insert it into the seam quickly and easily for a professional finish.
- Set the machine to overlock for the desired point.
- Attach the cording foot.
To sew the drawstring into a seam:
- Place the drawstring along the seam line on the right side of the fabric. Place the second piece of fabric on top with the right sides together.
- Place the layers of fabric and cord under the cord foot with the cord in the groove on the underside of the presser foot.
- Sew the drawstring into the seam.
- The groove on the underside of the presser foot will guide the drawstring when sewing.
To create piping from your fabric:
- Cut strips on the bias or crosswise wide enough to cover the drawstring plus the seam allowances.
- Lay the cord on the wrong side of the fabric strip and fold the fabric over the cord.
- Place the fabric and cord under the cord foot with the cord in the groove on the underside of the presser foot.
- Sew. The groove will guide the drawstring when sewing.
