The gathering foot is perfect for gathering a single layer of fabric or gathering and sewing two layers of fabric at the same time. (The bottom layer of fabric will be picked up, and the top layer will remain flat.) Suitable for light and medium fabrics.

• Set the machine to overlock for the desired point.
• Clip the pick-up foot on.
• Insert the bottom layer of fabric (fabric to be gathered) between the needle plate and the gathering foot to the utility knife, right side up.
• Insert the top layer of fabric into the opening of the gathering foot and also with the bottom layer facing down.
• Lower the presser foot and sew. Guide the fabric against the fabric guide, allowing the bottom layer to advance freely to gather.

Tip: To increase the fullness of the collection:

• Increase needle thread tension
• Set the differential feed to a higher number
• Adjust the stitch length to a higher number

A single layer of fabric can also be picked up by placing it under the presser foot and adjusting the stitch length, differential feed and needle thread tension to the desired fullness.
