The Mega Cording Foot is ideal for inserting thick cords for home decorations into the seams or edges and achieving a professional profile. The drawstring is sewn between the two layers of fabric in a single operation. For a custom finish, you can create the cord yourself. This foot can be inserted to the right or left of the needle, which makes it possible to both create and sew the cord into the seam and make a beautiful topstitch along the cord.

To create a drawstring with the fabric:

• Insert the Mega Cording Foot to the right of the needle.
• Cut the fabric into strips on the bias or in the direction of the texture. Cut the fabric so that it is sufficient to cover the creasing, including the seam allowances.
• Place the drawstring on the wrong side of the fabric strip and wrap the fabric around it.
• Place the fabric and cord under the Mega Cord Foot with the drawstring to the left of the foot.
• Select the straight stitch for the left needle position. Sew.

Tip: When sewing this cord into a project, adjust the needle position so that the second row of stitches is one needle position closer to the cord, so that the first seam is covered.

To secure the drawstring in a seam:

• Insert the Mega Cording Foot to the right of the needle.
• Place the drawstring along the seam line to the right of the fabric and sew in place with the drawstring to the left of the presser foot.
• Place the second piece of fabric on top, right sides facing.
• Place the layers of fabric and cord under the Mega Cord Foot with the cord to the left of the foot.
• Select the straight stitch for the left needle position. Sew.

Tip: Insert the seam allowance of the drawstring on the curves and corners to reduce bulk and make the seam flat.

Topstitching:

Insert the Mega Cording Foot to the left of the needle. Open the seam and fold it so that the drawstring sits along the edge of the fabric. Iron. Sew a row of topstitching to the left of the seam line.
