The invisible zipper must always be fitted before making the central seam on the garment. For this purpose, a special foot with two grooves is used at the bottom where the two halves of the hinge are inserted to hold it in place while sewing. Buy a zipper that is at least 3 cm longer than the corresponding opening.

1. Mark the length of the opening on the seam allowance and on the zipper itself. The excess length should stay at the bottom of the zipper.

2. Apply the invisible zipper foot. Select the straight stitch with center needle position. Length 2.5 - 3.0.

3. Open the zipper.

4. Place the right half of the zipper on the two pieces of fabric joined right sides facing. The zipper should be on the seam and its top latch 2 cm below the cut edge of the fabric.

5. Press the hinge with your finger and lower the presser foot, making sure that the two halves are inserted into the right groove under the presser foot.

6. Adjust the position of the needle to align with the guide on the front of the presser foot. Backstitch and sew. Stop at the mark on the zipper and seam allowance, backstitch to secure the seam.

7. Place the left half of the zipper right sides facing on the left side of the garment. Lower the presser foot with the left groove over the hinge teeth. Make sure that the needle is perfectly aligned with the guide on the front of the presser foot. Repeats the operations performed for the first side.

8. Pull the slider to close the zipper. Join the fabric and the zipper on the right side. Apply the regular zipper foot to the left of the needle.

Adjust the needle position to the right. Start working in the secured seam and sew under the zipper. If the zipper is too long, sew overcast between the teeth 3 cm below the part inserted into the fabric. Trim the excess zipper under the overlock seam.
