The hem is a finish that prevents the fabric from fraying, and is durable over time. With the hemming foot you can hem on light and medium fabrics for dresses and home projects without having to iron the folded fabric before sewing.
Usage :
- Select the straight stitch and engage the IDTTM (if available on your sewing machine). If necessary, iron only the beginning of the hem to 2, 3 or 4 mm wide, depending on the size of the presser foot. Place the fabric flat in the groove under the presser foot and sew a few stitches. Lower the needle into the fabric to keep it in place. Now lift the presser foot and pass the raw edge of the fabric into the spiral of the presser foot. Lower the presser foot and continue sewing while holding the raw edge of the fabric raised in front of the presser foot.
- The fabric should not slide under the right half of the presser foot.
- Tips: On gathered fabrics, use a straight stitch. On soft fabrics, use a zigzag that barely covers the mm measurement of the hem (if the shape of the fabric curves abruptly, you cannot use this foot).
